Impact of planned and continuous grazing on third-year response of forage cover, as well as changes in microbial biomass and respiration of microbes

Project Details

  • Project Lead: Terence McGonigle (Brandon University)

  • Collaborators: Pam Iwanchysko (Manitoba Agriculture)

  • Years: 2018

  • Project Status: Complete

  • Funding & In-Kind Support: Brandon University

  • Location: Brookdale Farm

  • Scope: Research

  • Keywords: Soil Health, Soil Carbon, Grazing Management, Perennial Forages

Approach

This project examines the response of forages and soil microbial biomass under the third year of the Planned Grazing project. Measurements for vegetation and soil were taken on both the rotated paddocks and the continuously grazed paddocks.
